Did you know ginger is known in Ayurveda as “Vishwa-Aushadh” or “Universal medicine” because of its amazing healing benefits !!! “ Ayurveda” is a natural system of medicine. It is an ancient system of medicine more than 5000 years old. Ayurveda believes the fire is the most important element in the body. Once the fire is imbalanced it affects and creates an imbalance of tridosha (the three doshas) and then people start to get sick after.
Ginger is referred to in Ayurveda as “Aardrakam” or “Shunthi” in Sanskrit. It is pungent (spicy), while at the same time sweet and warming. Ginger is rich with fire elements and regular practice of ginger will enhance heat and improve digestive fire. Because of its amazing healing properties and qualities, it makes ginger very useful for treating Vata and Kapha imbalances, such as digestive issues, as it improves all three phases of gastrointestinal functions (digestion, absorption, and elimination). It’s the perfect antidote for chill and dampness.
